Phase 8 - Tail Repairs
Eventually DLGs will need to have their tails repaired - too many hand catches missed and that vert will start to look shabby or crack. Of course you can always buy a new tail, but often this is not necessary.
After flying the FireFLy quite a bit, I eventually missed a catch at precisely the wrong time and had to put her down rather roughly. The result was a cracked vert. No biggy!
Repair was easy, do it with epoxy and a patch. Thin the epoxy with heat from a hairdryer and be careful not to put too much on as it will wick straight through the GF skin very easily. Don't bother with bagging it, just use the old school method of plastic PTFE sheet and a weight. Job done!
